Are you interested in learning or learning more about the trail building process? ATA has 2 spots for interested members to send to this years trail building clinic.
VMBA is thrilled to officially announce that the 2021 Chapter Trail Building Clinic will be June 12-13th at Slate Valley Trails! For those unfamiliar with the event, it will be an awesome opportunity to dig in (pardon the pun) to trail planning, design, building, maintenance, repair, and stewardship. The course will be led by Sustainable Trail Works, and featured a combination of outdoor classroom instruction and field work. Sessions will run 9-3pm each day, with a group ride afterwards (conditions permitting). On-site camping, including access to wifi, hot showers, and a bike wash, will be available for $20/night. For those interested in more upscale accomodations, Ferncliff Camps has offered a variety of lakefront cabins just a mile away, ranging from $100-150/night (rooms at $50/night for those vaccinated and interested in sharing).
In years past, this has been an awesome opportunity for folks to both bolster their trail building chops and spend some time in the woods with fellow Chapter representatives. As noted above, VMBA will also be hosting a BBQ Saturday night with food and drink provided, though you will want to bring your own lunches, snacks, and PPE.
