Volunteers digging new trails on Ascutney

Volunteer Opportunities

We are always on the lookout for volunteers, and everyone is needed!  We’d love to hear from you if you're interested in trail building or getting involved in other areas: winter trails or hiking focus, fundraising, events, marketing/website, or just have a cool idea you want to pitch to us.  Pop us an email at info@ascutneytrails.com or trails@ascutneytrails.com and we’ll be in touch.

Member Trail Days

We invite our members (and interested non-members) to join us for our monthly trail days running from Spring into Fall.  These are opportunities to help ‘build what you ride’ (or hike) and get to know your trail community.  Don’t know how to build or maintain trails? No problem! We can teach you what to do and afterwards you will be proud of what you built. Projects vary each month depending on the needs of our trails: anything from a new section of trail to be built out, a bridge that needs replacing, rebuilding a rock feature and much much more!

If you can’t make it to our scheduled trail days, we likely have a spot that needs some TLC and can put you to work outside of these days so we’d love to hear from you as well. Alternatively, consider making a monetary donation to ATA!

People often ask what they can bring to trail days.  Some of our favorite trail tools are:

  • Chainsaw

  • McLeod

  • Pick axe

  • Metal rake

  • Trail Saw

  • You!

Corporate Trail Days

We are experienced at coordinating corporate trail days for organizations to bring their employees out to help us on the trails.  This is a great way to pair your community service program with some time to take in fresh air and build camaraderie amongst your team.  We have flexibility with scheduling and look forward to hearing from you.

Ongoing Trail Tasks

Can't make a trail day?  Do you still want to help out and escape into the woods, meadows and trail vistas?  View our Ongoing Trail Tasks to learn about rotating and updating list of tasks to help us keep our network enjoyable to everyone that uses it. Some tasks are as easy as trail status checks and reporting back to the ATA.  Some are actual trail work or administrative help.
