Summit-Bound Hiking Trails

Mount Ascutney is truly unique, as one of the few monadnock (stand-alone) mountains in the Northeast and it is unusually steep all the way around.  For decades, hikers and trail runners have been ascending and descending the mountain via its challenging trails.  The summit offers 360-degree views of the Connecticut River valley and beyond. On a clear day, you can see all the surrounding mountain ranges in Vermont and New Hampshire, including the summits of Mt Mansfield and Mt Washington in the distance.  If a strenuous hike is not in your plans, the Mt Ascutney Toll Road offers a paved auto road to drive to within a mile of the summit via motor vehicle or bicycle.
