First Real Snow

Jim Lyall

We skinned to almost the top of the green section late in the day (12/16) and skied down Broadway just after sunset. There was 15 inches of wet, heavy, snowball-packing snow on no base up there that requires well-waxed skis, which ours weren't. As we approached the bottom, we kept getting snow build-up on the ski bottoms dragging us to a halt. Plenty of coverage up there, but still the challenge of a lot of brush near the top, where we ran out of volunteer labor. Try again tomorrow, after a wet-snow wax job.
