Ride 'Em While We Can

Lovely leaves adorned the trees
With brilliant colors so spectacular
If they’d stayed right there,
I’d needn’t swear
But on bike trails, in particular
I have often rudely spewed the crude vernacular
When near-defoliation
Precedes precipitation
The leaves get wet
And we’re beset
With riding
Turned to sliding
That threatens my annihilation
It’s my belief
We’ve found relief
And need not fault
The fallen leaf
For fomenting so much of our frustration
Once sought out,
Some helpers leapt
They blew the trails
And kept them swept
And gladly strove to alleviate the situation
So ride with me
I think you’ll see
That, now leaf-free,
Wet toes of trees
Have become the very roots of our humiliation
Eh, it can’t be that bad. Come join the Tuesday Night Slip ‘n’ Slide from the West Windsor Town Forest parking lot at 5:45. We roll out at 6:00.
