Time to Pick 'n' Blow (the trails, not your nose). This Saturday, volunteers are meeting at the Ascutney Outdoors Center LOWER parking lot (by the tubing shack) at 8:30. We'll divide up and head out to the local public trailheads with assigned routes to be leaf-blown/raked and (some) picked free of branches. We have some tools, but if you have a leaf-blower, please bring it (or a rake) along.
Thanks especially to Peter Tobey and Larry Boehmler, most of the trails have been picked free of branches. We'll return by noon and report our progress, noting the location of downed trees, wet areas unlikely to be rideable by the following weekend, and any spots that need some immediate TLC. Note that there is a slight chance of some very light sprinkles, but since the temps will be in the mid 60's, we may even welcome them. Don't forget gloves, water and a snack. Hope to see you there.
Hopefully, we'll be ready to open the NW Mt. Ascutney network (all or partial) on the 25th and host the first on-trail Tuesday Night Ride on the 29th. Meanwhile our traditional opening, gravel TNR will leave from Skunk Hollow Tavern at 6:00 on Tuesday the 22nd.
