Sweet TNR

I won’t sugar coat it,
Not all trails are a piece of cake
Some are in mint condition
Some unraked and half-baked
Could be a rocky road
Could be smooth as butter
Trails come in all flavors,
Not just plain-vanilla, cookie-cutter
They could be delicious, vicious
Crumby, yummy, or sweet!
This week’s should be a picnic
You are in for a treat
Check the weather for Tuesday
See what’s on our plate
Bitter cold, moist, or crisp?
We can surely acclimate
Even sprinkles, a biting wind
And maybe frosting in the mix?
Or our first taste of trail icing
As we head out at six
But, sometimes we bite off
More than we can chew
Stuck in a jam,
And in need of a brew.
When chips are down,
And we are toast, cooked, or burnt
Still on the trail,
When we wish that we weren’t.
We won’t yell “Nuts!” or "Fudge!”
Or curse worse when it hurts,
‘Cuz, just finishing the course,
We will earn our just desserts
Thanks to Melissa’s kindness, the last few TNRs have been sweet! If you are a dues-paying ATA member, you will be receiving an email about where the private-trail ride (and goodies) will be.
